Recent Projects: Are You Local ?

"Are you local?"

I this video, which is in the same series of "Feel It Like Home", aim to question the boundary of the local and global, the exile home and the present home. It also questions the form of interview for diasporic subject or the exotic other. The interview took place in the 'home' of Thai homosexual living in London with his British 'husband'. To confuse the audience she deliberately dressed up as a woman and communicated by using the mix Thai/English and perhaps the real and fiction story that made belief by her exoticness. The surreal appearance and the language are mixed up which help create an effect of confusion, reluctantly to accept the reality of interview. By highlight the suspected form of documentary interviewing, the audience can no longer ignore the presence behind camera and the dialogue between the interviewer and interviewee that may no longer make sense of understanding to the audience.

The exotic Other and the British notion of 'home' perhaps does not belong together in reality.
